Air Pressure & Touch Sensor

The Digital Saxophone uses a Freescale System-On-A-Chip CPU. It integrates RAM, Flash, communcation, and touch sensors into a single chip that controls the entire device. This integrated chip simplifies the design, thus cutting costs, improving reliability, and reducing energy usage.

An integrated Class-D amplifier and small speaker play the sounds the CPU generates. The sound is also routed to a built-in audio jack that is compatible with both headsets and an external amplifier, or effects pedals.

A high precision air pressure sensor detects changes in blowing. Capacitive touch sensors detect movement of the fingers. The CPU uses sophisticated signal processing algorithms to combine these two elements to produce the best tone with a natural responsiveness.

Integrated CPU

An integrated lithium-ion rechargeable battery lets you play for hours or even days if using headphones or an amplifier. It is charges using standard micro-USB chargers or your computer.
